History

History of Lee-King Drug Co & Lee-King Pharmacy
1906 – J. Frank Lee opened J.F. Lee Drug Co. at 2 East Court Square in downtown Newnan.

1919 – John Robert King, Mr. Lee’s brother-in-law who had graduated from the University of Ga with a degree in Pharmacy, bought into the business as Mr. Lee’s partner. The name was changed to Lee-King Drug Co.

1937 – William F. Lee, Bill “Whupper” Lee, son of J. Frank Lee, graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Pharmacy. He served several years in the Army before returning to Newnan and joining the family business. 

1939 – J. Frank Lee died. In the mid 1940’s, Bill Lee and J. Robert King became partners in Lee-King Drug Co. at 2 East Court Square.

1948 – Lee-King Drug Co. #2, Lee-King’s second location, was opened at 14 Greenville Street in downtown Newnan by partners J. Robert King and Willian F. Lee.

1968 – Robert L. Lee (Bobby), son of Bill Lee, graduated from Auburn University with a degree in Pharmacy and joined the family business. 

1970 – Bobby Lee bought Mr. King’s interest in the company and became partners with his father, Bill, in Lee-King’s two stores. 

1971 – Lee-King Pharmacy was built and opened at 18 Cavender Street in Newnan. Lee-King Drug Co #2 was closed. 

2020 – Robert L. Lee sold Lee-King Pharmacy to Mindy and Michael Leech
